Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The City of Bridgeton receives Community Development Block Grant funds (CDBG funds) from the Federal government to support community needs such as housing rehabilitation (roof, structural, electrical, plumbing, heating repairs), historic preservation, commercial rehabilitation, new home construction, relocation assistance, repair of infrastructure (sidewalks, lighting, curbing, etc.), and the general elimination of community blight.
Introduction
The program provides annual grants on a formula basis to entitled cities and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons. The program is authorized under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Public Law 93-383, as amended; 42 U.S.C.-5301 et seq. Submit Program Proposals - Due March 10, 2010The office of Community Development is accepting submissions for grant funding to community service organizations in order to serve as sub-recipients to carry-out program objectives.
