The
Master Plan for the City of Bridgeton, described as “a document with
many moving parts” by one participant in the process, will address such
key areas as future development, code enforcement, the Bridgeton
Historic District, Planning and Zoning considerations and economic development.
The next public meeting will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Marino Center located at 11 Washington Street, Bridgeton, New Jersey. This
July 31st public meeting is the third since November 2007 at the Marino
Center, with each meeting providing officials and those charged with
the task of revising the Master Plan an invaluable opportunity to
receive public input on the future of the community.
The City’s
Master Plan has specific parts or elements that determine the scope of
the plan. These constitute proposals for the physical, economic, and
social development of the municipality. The plan addresses land use,
housing, pedestrian and vehicle circulation, open space and recreation,
streetscapes, Bridgeton’s riverfront and a host of related topics.
The
Master Plan for the City speaks to the interrelationship of Bridgeton’s
objectives with those of other municipalities, as well as the County
and State plans. “We encourage all citizens to attend the meetings
and participate in the process. Citizen participation is vital to the
future success of the City”, said Mayor Begley.
