Bridgeton Mayor Jim Begley, moving forward on a number of fronts in 2008, added the funding of storm drainage infrastructure improvements in the Florida Ave Industrial Park to the list of initiatives meant to spur growth and development in the City of Bridgeton.
“Getting the infrastructure in place is a necessary step to support business development in the Florida Ave Industrial Park”, Begley said.
The $183,000 Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) funded initiative will allow businesses locating to the Florida Ave Industrial Park to connect to the necessary storm drainage system serving the entire site. The first business to benefit from the project will be Bridgeton Plumbing & Heating Supply Company, who will be moving from there present Broad St location to the Florida Ave Industrial Park in the latter part of 2008.
The project received City Council approval in February and final approval from the Urban Enterprise Zone Authority at their May meeting.
Mayor Begley made the project a priority to coincide with the opening of the soon to be completed Rutgers Food Innovation Center and to accommodate existing and new businesses affected by the extensive public works project being completed on the Broad St Bridge. The Florida Ave Industrial Park is one of two industrial parks in Bridgeton, the second being the Burlington Rd Industrial Park. Both are prime business locations and are being actively marketed as part of Mayors Begley’s approach to overall revitalization for the
City.
